Abstract

559,532. Electrostatic precipitation. STURTEVANT ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., WAGNER, H. W., and HELLYER, J. H. July 18, 1942, No. 10021. Drawings to Specification. [Class 39 (i)] In the electrostatic precipitation of insulating dust from air or gasses, powdered fuel grits are introduced into the gas stream before it enters the precipitator, whereby the deposits on the collecting electrode are made electrically conducting and more readily removed by the usual methods. The grits may be introduced into the stream by gravity or by injection in a stream of air or a by-passed portion of the gas stream. The application to the precipitation of the oxides or sulphides of antimony and zinc is referred to.
