557,848. Making can-bodies. ABBEY, A. (Bliss Co., E. W.). June 2, 1942, No. 7508. [Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv)] Curving.-A device for flexing sheet-metal blanks and supplying them to a can body making machine comprises a pair of rolls 1, 2 to feed the blanks, a reflecting blade 13 to curve each blank as it enters the roll pass, and a blade 15 for partially straightening each blank as it is discharged into the magazine of the body-making machine, the blade 13 being adjustable about the axis of roll 1 and 15 about that of roll 2. The blades are mounted on segmental sleeves 12, 14, this being adjusted and secured by two screws 17, slot S, and convexfaced washer 19 and that by two pairs of screws 22, Fig. 5.
