Abstract
619,406. Angular bending and curving. SALOPIAN ENGINEERS, Ltd., and BURN, R. M. G. Dec. 7, 1946, No. 36242. [Class 83 (iv)] Apparatus for bending strip M, angle, &c., on edge, comprises bending-rolls A, A<SP>1</SP>, A, combined with separate ironing-rolls F, F<SP>1</SP> coacting with a third roll for ironing or preventing twist, the ironing-rolls having their axes parallel to the major axis of the strip or part of the section m being bent. The ironing-roll pass is adjustable by screws K and the space between them receiving the web m<SP>1</SP> is adjustable by a screwed sleeve acting on a spigoted and splined roll as disclosed in Specification 551,447. One or more of the bending-rolls may be driven, and split to receive the flange m, and be screw adjusted on lateral guides b. A pair of ironing-rolls may be provided for steadying the strip M before bending.
