Abstract

736,623. Forging-machines. GUEST, KEEN & NETTLEFOLDS (MIDLANDS), Ltd. March 25, 1954 [March 27, 1953], No. 8463/53. Class 83 (4). Shearing.-A heading machine has a severing tool 20 slidable transversely of the heading punch 14 and actuated by an arm 17 carried by and extending forwardly of the heading punch. When the stock 10 has been headed, it is advanced through the die 11 and a headed blank 27 is severed therefrom by a pair of pinching cutters 20 mounted on slides 21 which carry rollers 23 engaging opposite sides of arms 17. The arms are pivoted to the block 13 carrying the heading punch and have inclined portions 18 forming cam surfaces which move the cutters inwardly during the retraction of the punch. Adjustable slides 24 operated by screws 26 allow the position of the arms and hence the setting of the cutters to be varied.
