Abstract

557,220. Buoyant wearing-apparel. SIEDLECKI, Z., and SIEBE, GORMAN & CO., Ltd. May 6, 1942, No. 6115. [Class 141] A sea rescue suit comprises a peaked hood 1, trunk 2, and trousers 3 in one-piece of waterproof material with a front access gussetted opening 6 closable by a sliding fastener 11, the hood having an opening 7 the edge of which is formed of closely fitting elastic material incorporating overlying flaps 8, 9 closed by press fastenings 10. The suit has an inner lining 18 and a further buoyant and heatretaining lining 12, and is provided at the chest with buoyant panels 14, 15 and with similar panels 16, 17 at the knees, while at the nape of the neck there is provided a fixed pillow 19, and a hinged inflatable pillow 20, so that, when the wearer is in the water, the wearer floats in a semi-lying position with chest and head well out of the water. The suit may have and aditional lining incorporating electrical or chemically heating elements, and may be provided with ventilators 35, 36, at the armpits and other ventilators 37, 38 at the knees. It may also be fitted with a sea drogue, with pockets 49 for holding food &c. and with clips 50 to carry a distress flag 51. Specification 557,418, [Group XXV], is referred to.
