Abstract

556,532. Gauges. AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS, CO., Ltd., and BROCK, D. T. April 27, 1942, No. 5636. [Class 106 (ii)] In a gauge for internal dimensions having a disc or ring like body portion and an angularly displaceable member, movable about an axis eccentric to that of the body portion, the angularly displaceable member is located in a gap in the body portion and has a continuous curved edge which is not concentric with its axis and which projects from the body portion to an extent determined by its angular position. A cylindrical body 10 is provided with a hollow stem 11 from which extends a lug 12. The body 10 is recessed as shown to leave an annular rim 14 interrupted by a gap 15. A spindle 16 journalled at 17 in the body carries an eccentric disc 18 which projects through the gap 15. The other end of the spindle 16 is formed with a tongue 19 which enters a slot 20 in a part 21 journalled in the lug 12 and provided with a flange 22 which lies against the lug. To the part 21 is fixed by a bolt 23 which also connects the part 21 to the spindle 16, a hand grip 24 adapted to rotate the part 21 through a ratchet clutch which slips when the spindle meets resistance. The extent to which the disc projects may be read against a reference mark. In a modification the disc is formed as an involute. In a further form, two fixed reference points are provided by two discs or rollers mounted on fixed spindles and retained by spring clips so as to be interchangeable with other discs for different dimensions. The third and movable point is provided by the eccentric disc as before.
