Abstract

555,092. Dyeing &c. yarn. OLIVER, W., and TURBULAYR PRODUCTS, Ltd. Jan. 30, 1942, No. 1282. [Class 15 (i)] Relates to apparatus for dyeing, washing or bleaching yarn, of the kind described in Specification 516,179, wherein the treatment chamber has near at least one side a weir plate such as 17 forming, with the side wall of the chamber a circulation compartment, air or other gas being admitted to the base of the compartment to cause the liquor to overflow the weir plate, means being also provided for admitting bubbles to the base of the chamber between the weirs so that in the chamber a downward flow of liquor is produced simultaneously with an upward passage of gas bubbles. Air or gas is admitted to all the circulation compartments simultaneously by pipes 22. Air or gas under pressure is projected into the lower part of the treatment chamber situated between the weir plates 17 by pipes 15 situated between perforated plates 14. The swift is mainly of tubular construction and some of the tubes are used for transmitting air or gas under pressure for lifting the yarn from the poles. The poles are provided with cages formed by rods 35 keeping the yarn out of contact with the pole itself. A perforated plate 47 is situated above the poles. Air is supplied to the circulation chambers and the treatment vessel simultaneously, this supply is then cut off and air supplied to the poles, a rotary valve with four sets of ports being driven by a motor. Steam is supplied when desired to a pipe 19.
