Abstract
Compressed air, heated to a temp. close to the b.pt. is introduced into the lower part of the evaporator, under a nest of heating tubes, at the most favourable place for creating the max. agitation. Thus the duration of the process is reduced while improving the quality of the sugar; the vol. of compressed air used is also reduced and only represents a very small part of the gases drawn through the pipe at the top of the plant. Rinsing is also improved by the turbulence caused during aspiration. Tubes coming from the compressed air distributor open into orifices, arranged in a circle, at the base of the evaporator. The compressed air is released from the orifices in a series of bursts, rotating around the circle of orifices. Efficient agitation is achieved at a low equipment cost; the air also emulsifies the mass and accelerates its ascension.
