217,758. Mitchell, I., and Wordsworth, G. H. June 8, 1923. Circulating liquids through materials.-Apparatus for dyeing textile fibres in the form of balls or cheeses comprises a tank a provided with an inner vessel b divided by means of vertical fluted strips b<1> and pillars b<2> into a number of intercommunicating compartments each of a size to accommodate a series of balls or cheeses c placed one upon another. A perforated plate d forms a support for the material and below this is a chamber e connected at f to a pump by which liquor may be free or drawn through the material. The upper end of the compartments is closed by a perforated plate g which may either be in one piece or in sections. The tank a is preferably of such size as to provide a space a<1> for boiling the liquor which may be heated by steam pipes.
