Abstract

<PICT:0380192/IV/1> Yarn and loose material or articles are dyed in a vat a divided into two compartments b, c, the dyeing liquor being circulated by a variable pitch propeller e which has means operated by a handle o for gradually reversing the blades whilst the propeller is rotating. The passage f connecting the compartments b, c is of tapered or converging form beneath the false bottom d, and the propeller is in a throated part i of its compartment, tapering walls leading to the throat from the sides. A perforated cover d<1> may be placed over the materials being treated or a grid h is provided. Specification 257,160, [Class 15 (i), Dyeing &c., Apparatus for], is referred to.
