Abstract

1,259,586. Washing machines. G. B. CONE. 6 March, 1970 [14 Jan., 1970], No. 1729/70. Heading D1A. A method of cleaning fabric articles comprises immersing the articles in a cleaning liquid in a container and feeding into the liquid alternately at two locations 25 air or other gas under pressure so that gas bubbles rise through the liquid and fabric articles. Suitable apparatus comprises a pair of tubes 24 with vertical portions which are placed at the side of a washing tank 18 with the perforated portions 25 extending along the bottom of the tank. The tubes are connected alternately to a gas supply, such as a domestic vacuum cleaner, manually or by a change over value. Preferably the tank 18 is part of a washing machine with a drain pump 22 for supplying liquid from a chamber 20 to an outlet 23 and with a drying chamber 16 which may contain a spindryer.
