Abstract
790,671. Cleaning metals. HOLDING ELECTROSONIC SOC. ANON, March 22, 1956 [April 7, 1955], No. 8949/56. Class 82(2) [Also in- Group XVIII] A machine for cleaning watch and like parts comprises a receptacle 1, Fig. 1, containing cleaning liquid 2, a basket 3 supported by rods 4 and containing the parts to be cleaned and a generator of ultrasonic vibrations e.g. a quartz crystal 6 connected to a generator 7. The crystal 6 is fixed to a partition which divides the receptacle into two parts, the upper part containing the cleaning liquid and the lower part containing oil and being connected to a reservoir 9. Contamination of the cleaned parts by the removed dirt suspended in the cleaning liquid is avoided by continuous circulation of the cleaning liquid in a circuit including a purifying means, As described this circuit comprises a tank 12, a pump 13, a filter 14 and a two-way valve 15. During a cleaning operation the valve 15 is positioned so that the cleaning liquid, which may be heated is supplied to the receptacle 1 through the orifice 11. The liquid charged with impurities overflows through orifice 10 and pipe 10a into the tank 12. After cleaning, the valve 15 is changed over and the receptacle 1 empties through the orifice 11 and pipe 16 into the tank 12. A blower 17 is then operated to blow air over a heater 18 and through a filter 19 into the receptacle 1 to dry the cleaned parts. In a modification, Fig. 3, the machine has several receptacles of cleaning liquid into each of which baskets 29 containing the parts to be cleaned are successively inserted, one or more of the receptacles being constructed and arrangedas described above. The last receptacle 25 may be a drying receptacle into which hot filtered air is passed.
