Abstract
554,744. Roofs and floors. ALTOFT, H. April 1, 1942, No. 4364. [Class 20 (iv)] Two slabs 18, 19 are formed with V-shaped recesses at their edges so that they enclose a beam 13 of triangular cross section. By forming recesses in all the slab edges, beams intersecting at right angles may be enclosed. Two of the edges are oppositely recessed from the other two, so that the beams clear one another, one of the triangular sections being inverted as shown in Fig. 6. The slabs may be square or rectangular, or rhombus-shaped, and may be divided into two or more separable parts to facilitate assembling. The slabs may be curved for constructing arches or domes. The beams may be reinforced by steel rods near the angles, which may be secured to the structure of a building. The slabs may also be reinforced, or may be hollow.
