Abstract

554,522. Valves. BARNET INSTRUMENTS, Ltd., and GRANT, C. R. A. March 11, 1942, No. 3226. [Class 135] [Also in Group XIX ] A constricting device for a pressure gauge &c. comprises a valve member 8 movable towards and away from a seating 5 in a body check nut 13, the valve being provided with a radial flange 10 from which extend on either side axial spigots through which is a longitudinal passage which is permanently open even when the valve is closed. The valve 8 has a small limited movement and fits loosely in a space between the seating 5 and a bush 3 screwed onto the body. The gauge screws on to the end 12 of the body the other end 1 of which is screwed to fit on to the part from which the pressure is desired. In a modification a capillary tube is fitted to the narrow base of the valve and cut off to give the correct degree of constriction.
