Abstract
554,126. Sodium fluoride; potassium carbonate. SIEGEL, W. Nov. 18, 1941, No. 14818. [Classes 1 (ii), and 1 (iii)] In a process for obtaining sodium fluoride by reacting potassium silicofluoride with potassium carbonate in solution and reacting the potassium fluoride solution produced with sodium carbonate, the reaction of the potassium fluoride and sodium carbonate is carried out in the presence of excess potassium fluoride thereby avoiding contamination by silicon compounds present in the product of the first reaction. The solution obtained by the reaction of the potassium silicofluoride and potassium carbonate is preferably concentrated and cooled before the addition of the aqueous sodium carbonate. From the mother liquor potassium carbonate may be obtained by crystallization. Specification 263,623, [Class 1 (ii)], is referred to.
