[Class 51 (ii)] In a baker's oven comprising two or more superposed baking chambers B, E the floor b of the bottom chamber B is heated by steam tubes C projecting into the space above the grate A and the top of chamber B and the floors and tops of the superposed chamber or chambers E are heated by the combustion gases. The combustion gases ascending by the flue D<2> pass through a longitudinal central duct d<2> between the chambers B, E and return by side ducts d<4> to join the combustion gases ascending by the flues D<1>, D3 which pass along horizontal side ducts d<1>, d<3> and above the chamber E and return by a central duct d<5> for discharge past a damper f to the outlet f. Air inlets H communicating with the ducts above and below the chamber E may be opened to enable the chamber to be cooled rapidly. A prover G may be arranged below the heating tubes C. The grate A is arranged above and the bottom of the ashpit A<1> level with the bottom of the oven structure.
