Abstract
711,165. Kitchen ranges. GLOW-WORM BOILERS, Ltd. Nov. 20, 1952 [Nov. 21, 1951], No. 27273/51. Class 126 In a cooking stove, fresh cool air is drawn into a hollow fire box cheek adjacent the oven, heated in the cheek and delivered to a passage extending under the oven and up the far side. The side of the firebox a of a kitchen range adjacent the oven b is provided with a hollow cheek g. Air from the ashpit i is drawn into the cheek g through a nozzle h and takes a circuitous path round a baffle j in the hollow cheek to a passage m extending diagonally across the bottom of the oven, through a vertical passage p to a flue space r beneath the hot plate and thence to the chimney. A hot chamber y may be provided below the passage m, and an additional plate, which may serve as a shelf support, may be provided on the inside wall of the oven adjacent the firebox. The cheek g may have internal ribs or fins to assist in heating the air, and a back boiler may be provided. A second hollow cheek and oven may be provided at the other side of the firebox.
