Abstract

553,417. Pneumatic conveyers. BRASSERT & CO., Ltd., H. A., and THOMSON, T. Nov. 19, 1941, No. 14880. [Class 78 (i)] In means for conveying blast furnace and like dust a quantity of gas is withdrawn from the main gas system through a pipe 10, is compressed by a compressor 11, and is used in the pipe 5 as a medium for conveying the dust from 2 to 6, after which the gas is returned into the main gas system. In the arrangement shown dust from a blast furnace 1 enters a collector 2 and is fed by a screw conveyer 3 to an injector 4 in the conveyer pipe 5 along which it passes to cyclone or other collectors 6 and 7. Roughcleaned gas passes from the vessel 2 through a pipe 8 to gas-cleaning plant 9. The conveying gas, after passing through the cyclone 6, is returned to the main gas system either through a pipe 13 as shown in full lines or through a pipe 14 as shown in broken lines. According to the Provisional Specification air, instead of furnace gas, may be used for conveying the dust.
