Abstract
552.615. Titanium dioxide. BRITISH TITAN PRODUCTS CO., Ltd. Sept. 17, 1941. No. 11942. Convention date, Dec. 24, 1940. [Class 1 (iii)] Titanium dioxide for use as a pigment is obtained by hydrolytic precipitation of solutions, which may contain iron compounds, by heating not less than half of the solution to effect partial hydrolysis, then adding the remainder and completely hydrolysing. The rates of filtering and washing are thereby advantageously effected particularly if antimony oxide is present. The proportion of the solution partially hydrolysed may vary from 95 to 5 per cent. of the whole.
