Abstract
552,271. Fire extinguishing. LA CONCHA Y OTERMIN, J. G. DE. Oct. 17, 1941, No. 13410. Convention date, Oct. 18, 1940. [Class 47 (ii)] To extinguish fires due to escaping inflammabl vapours from liquids stored in tanks, barrels &c. in chambers, silos &c. a liquid seal is provided to cut off the supply of air to the chamber. As shown, entrance to a store room A is by means of stairs m, n p, a door II in an ante-chamber B, and a door I the top of which is below the level of the bottom a, g of the store room, which is preferably fitted with a low wall h. A water tank T is arranged above the ante-chamber B, and on the outbreak of fire, the water is discharged by automatic or other means in a quantity at least sufficient to fill the pit a ... d, and so form a hydraulic seal to close the store room A.
