257,538. Black, W. May 11, 1926. Tanks.-A tank for inflammable liquids is provided with a non-inflammable float, and a liquid spraying device for fire preventing and extinguishing. A tank 1 has a float comprising a casing 3 containing a large number of small glass or other refractory globular and buoyant members 4. The float has a bottom 5, radial partitions (not shown), and a top 6, all of wood. The top 6 is covered with a thin metal sheet 6<a>. The body 9 of the float is made of fine wire mesh which extends in the form of a flange 10 to contact slidingly with the tank wall. Fire extinguishing means comprises a pipe 11 for water &c. with radiating and riser pipes 13, 14, respectively. The pipes 14 pass through bushings in the float 3 and are supplied with heads 16 closed at the top and with outelts 19.
