[Class 106 (ii)] Comprises two relatively movable jaws, a dial indicator, and a micro-adjustable feeler. the dial indicator being carried by one jaw and the adjustable feeler by the other and mounted so as to extend towards the plunger of the indicator and being adapted to contact therewith whilst moving relatively to the jaw carrying the dial indicator. The block 1 is provided with an outside calliper jaw 2 and an inside calliper jaw 5 co-operating with similar jaws 8, 10 in one with a slide 6 fitting into a slideway 7 in the block 1. The jaws 5, 10 are offset so that they can cross scissors fashion while jaws 2 and 8 can meet. The slide 6 has a longitudinal bore 11 open at one side through which extends into the bore the leg of a T-shaped piece 12 secured to the bottom of the block. A spring 13 is arranged in the bore between the top of the bore and the plate 12 and tends to separate the jaws to an extent limited by a stop plate 14. A micrometer barrel 15 carrying a thimble 16 and feeler 17 is mounted on the part 3 with its axis parallel to the slide 6 a locking ring 18 serving to lock the feeler 17 in any adjusted position. The feeler 17 contacts with the button 21 on the plunger 20 of a dial indicator 19 carried by the arm 9. The dial indicator may have two scales " plus and " minus " and the pointer can make a complete revolution in either direction. In use, the thimble 16 is unscrewed to the fullest extent, the thimble setting being " zero ", the jaws being closed until their operative surfaces are co-planar, and the dial indicator is set to " zero". The micrometer thimble is now set to a dimension, and the feeler 17 locked. The jaws 5,.10 are then sprung into a hole 'to be gauged, or the jaws 2, 8 closed on to a bar and the dial indicator will indicate any difference between the dimensions and that set.
