[Class 135] [Also in Group XIII] In a refrigerating system, the float of a valve for controlling liquid level is open at the bottom and intercepted flash gas is introduced into the interior of the float. In the form shown, for controlling refrigerant level in a surge drum 28, by means of an inlet valve 20, the separator 13 is connected to the drum by a pipe 27, and a small pipe 26 leads from the gas space in the separator to the float 15. The float chamber is connected to the drum by pipes 29, 30. In a modification the float is in the surge drum and controls an outlet valve.
