Abstract
878,789. Centrifugal pumps. JORGENSEN A. Jan. 25, 1960 [Jan. 26, 1959], No. 2594/60. Class 110 (1). A centrifugal pump for insertion in the return pipeline of a central heating installation comprises a discharge passage 2 and a by-pass passage 3 substantially parallel thereto, and an inlet passage 1 directed in the opposite direction. Valve chambers 9, 10 are located in a plane below that of the pump chamber 7. Water can enter the chamber 9 from the chamber 7 through an opening 8 and can pass, under the control of a by-pass valve 14, to chamber 10 and thence to the by-pass passage 3. Passage 3 is connected to the supply pipe of the central heating installation. Valve 14 may be manually controlled. Alternatively, it is controlled by a thermostat, the capsule of the thermostat preferably being inserted in the supply pipe.
