[Class 100 (i)] sheets fed to an offset printing-machine can be registered at either edge against registering lays 1, 19 of which one is fixed in an adjustable position and the other is moved by cam mechanism so as to register the sheets against the fixed lay. The fixed lay say 18 is secured in the desired position by means of a spring-plunger 34 engaging an aperture 35 in a fixed shaft 22. A sleeve 20 is fixed to the lay 18 and a spring 23 is arranged between the sleeve 20 and a sleeve 21 which is free to slide on the shaft 22 and is reciprocated thereon by the engagement of an oscillating lever 29 upon a cam surface 27 formed on the end of the sleeve 21. Sheet guides 24, 25 maintain the sheet being fed upon the top of the sleeves 20, 21, and the sheet passes between feed rollers 9, 10, to front stops, the upper rollers being mounted in links 45 which are operated by levers 41, 42 acted upon by cams 39, 40 on the impression cylinder 3, which also carries the cams 32, 33 for actuating the lever 29 and a similar lever 28 which operates when the sheets are to be registered against the right hand edge instead of the left. Two sets of feed rollers may be used and the registering devices arranged between them. The registering edge of each lay is adjustable relatively to the plungers 34, 36 which secure it to the shaft 33, and other securing means may replace these plungers, and other means of reciprocating the sleeves 20, 21 may be employed.
