[Class 103 (i)] A hollow body a adapted to be mounted within a brake drum between adjacent ends of braking members comprises two bores b, c, which as shown in the Figure are at right angles but in a modification are inclined, the first bore b containing two brake-operating plungers d and the other bore c containing a spring-loaded plunger comprising a stem f and piston g and which is drawn out by mechanical means to apply force to the brake-applying plungers d through the medium of oil, grease &c. contained in the hollow body a. In place of mechanical means a hydraulic plunger may be used to actuate the piston g. In a modification a storage chamber for the oil, grease &c. is provided, a threaded plug being screwed inwards to make up for loss or for adjustment of the plungers d.
