Abstract

549,877. Feeding cigarettes &c. to receptacles. RUAU, F. F., and MOLINS MACHINE CO., Ltd. May 8, 1941, No. 5998. [Class 78 (i)] Cigarettes &c. from a making machine delivered transversely on to a catcher band 2 and aligned by laterally reciprocating side walls 3 pass down an inclined end of the band to reach a platform 7. Between forked ends 8 of the platform 7 is located a wheel 9 having paddles 10. The wheel 9 is driven through an intermittent snap clutch 26 from the cigarette making machine by way of a sprocket chain 30. The clutch 26 has radial notches 25 which are engaged to stop the wheel 9 by a pawl 23 pivoted at 15 and controlled by a presser arm 14. The arm 14 bears on a stiffener 16 at the bottom of a flexible element 11 which bears on the stream of cigarettes flowing down the catcher band incline, and when this stream becomes too shallow the pawl 23 falls to stop the wheel 9, and temporarily arrest the feeding forward of the cigarettes by the paddles 10. A shoot 20 and a celluloid &c. strip 17 guide the cigarettes into a receptacle. Specification 549,875 is referred to.
