Abstract

549,189. Screw propellers. UNITED AIRCRAFT CORPORATION. Nov. 22, 1941. No. 15069 Convention date, Nov. 23, 1940. [Class 114] An aircraft propeller is dynamically balanced by weights supported by the hub and adjustable to different positions thereon. In one form, Fig. 1, weights 38, in the form of screws are adjustable along threaded openings 26 provided in the hub and extendparrallel to the propeller shaft 20. In a second form Fig. 4, each end of the hub 10 is provided with a cylindrical part 46 concentric with the shaft 20, weights in the form of eccentric rings 58, 60, 62, 64, being angularly adjustable on the parts 46 and secured by rings 54. In a third form, weights are adjustable circumferentially of the hub at each end thereof on guides carried by a spinner surroundnig the hub.
