Abstract

549,130. Body panels. CROW, G. B. July 24, 1941. No. 9408. [Class 108 (i)] [Also in Groups X and XXIII] Panel units for the construction of.building, huts, silos, and vehicle bodies each comprise an open frame b, c one side of which is closed in with plywood d, the frame being stiffened by cross bearers g having a curved edge or seating to act as a back support for an inset panel h of plywood or the like. The panel k is bent into concave form and is placed or sprung in between and held by the sides of the frame, being secured by curved cross bearers l which fit into the curve of the panel. The edges of the panel engage with grooves e in the frame c or intermediate uprights f. In Fig. 8, the units are in narrow panels the side uprights c not being square with the outer skin, and the top and bottom members are shaped accprdingly, so that when placed side by side they will form the polygonal wall of a silo. In a modification, the outer profile may be curved. The inner side of the panel unit may be. closed in with flat sheets of plywood.
