Abstract
548,702. Linear-dimension gauges. PEMBROKE, G. F., and MOLINS MACHINE CO., Ltd. March 18, 1941, No. 3707. [Class 106 (ii)] Comprises a reciprocable feeler, a transmitter movable transverse to the feeler, inclined abutments movable with feeler and transmitter engagable at their inclined surfaces so that movement of the feeler abutment determines the extent of movement of the transmitter abutment. Cases 30 are fed in succession on to V-shaped supports 2 as described in Specification 547,947, [Group XXX], the supports co-operating with vertical guides 3 to position the cases so that the diameter of the groove near the base may be gauged. In this position the groove is located on a fixed anvil 4 of V-shape. Above the anvil is provided a feeler 5 fixed to a slidable bar 6 vertically slidable in a guide 7. The bar 6 is raised by a lever 8 pivoted on a stud 9 and connected to the bar by a pin 11, the lever being raised by a cam 12. The contacting edge of the feeler is arcuate to conform with the groove and is chamfered as is the fixed anvil 4. Also secured to the slide is an abutment 14. of conical shape. When the feeler is in contact with the groove, a slidable bar 53 moving at right angles to the direction of movement of the feeler is advanced as set out in Specification 544,478 and a similar conical abutment 16 engages the abutment 14, the movement of the bar 53 operating indicating mechanism.
