Abstract

548,700. Gauging apparatus. PEMBROKE, G. F., and MOLINS MACHINE CO., Ltd. March 18, 1941, No. 3705. [Class 106 (ii)] A gauge for taper comprises a ring formed by two opposed parts one of which is fixed and the other movable to allow the work to be fed into and removed from the gauge, the cartridge being moved lengthwise by a presser into the ring and indicating mechanism operated by this movement of the presser. The cartridge cases are fed successively from a support Rt where one gauging operation has taken place to the support R2 by a transfer member T2 as described in Specification 547,947, [Group XXX]. The support R2 comprises two V-shaped supports 120 and the cartridge is guided to gauging position by guides 121, engaging the ends. The means for gauging the taper of the shoulder of the case comprises a ring gauge formed in two opposed parts 123, 124. The lower part 123 is fixed to the frame while the upper part 124 is carried on a lever 125 fixed on a spindle t26 pivotally mounted at the ends in the frame 39 and a bracket 67. A cam 127 is arranged to move the lever 125 up against the influence of a spring 130. The lever moves down under the influence of the spring, an adjustable stop 131 limiting this movement. The cartridge is then pushed into the ring by a pusher 132 engaging the closed and larger end until the pusher is arrested by the gauge fitting around the case. The pusher is attached to a sliding bar 53 supporting a magnet working indicating mechanism as described in Specification 544,478. After gauging the cam 127 again lifts the lever 125 and the transfer member T2 moves the cam away from the V-support.
