Abstract

547,394. Electromagnetic interrupters. STEVENS, A. H. (Electronic Laboratories, Inc.). March 18, 1942, No. 3622. [Class 38 (v) ] In a vibrator switch which may be used for converting D.C. into A.C., undue heating is prevented by using an electromagnet 19 with a laminated core 22 and a minimum air gap between the armature 24 and the pole pieces. The magnet 19 is supported between side plates 1, 2 with which the laminations of the E-shaped core 22 are parallel. The centre limb of the E is slightly shorter than the others and the armature when unattracted is offset as shown. The armature is carried by a reed 3 which carries an interrupter contact 10 and other contacts 6 which engage fixed adjustable contacts 9.
