Abstract

546,946. Transformers. CUTLER, C., FLUX, R. W., and METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. May 3, 1941, No. 5790. [Class 38 (ii)] Small power transformers of the aircooled or compoundfilled type are mounted in a pre-formed metallic sheath 1, the core lam. inations 2 being clamped between frame members 9, 10 one of which is fixed to the sheath or rests against abutments 12 fixed within the sheath while the other is forced in after the transformer and is secured by cross-pins 13, resilient packing 11 being interposed between the laminations and the frame member. The latter may have extensions 10b bent to form feet and carrying a closure plate 18, perforated for air cooling, or provided with a filter cap for compound filling. A lid 15 which may be spaced away from the sheath for ventilation is secured to strip members 14 which also carry a terminal plate 8.
