Abstract

706,641. Transformers. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and MORRIS, G. G. July 23, 1952 [Aug. 10, 1951], No. 18882/51. Class 38 (2) An electric transformer of the kind which is enclosed in a tank or the like has the core 1 and the windings thereon suspended in the tank by a cradle 6 embracing three sides of the core and is provided with clamping members 9, 10 to hold the core laminations together. The cradle 6 comprises a steel strip bent into a U-shaped form and arranged to embrace the two sides and the bottom of the core 1, the clamping members 9, 10 being secured to the cradle 6 in such positions that the laminations are clamped at the points where the leg and yoke laminations are interleaved. An insulating member 11 may be interposed between the cradle and the core. The upper ends of the cradle are secured to the cover of the tank so that when the cover is sealed to the tank the transformer will depend from the cover.
