546,936. Tuyeres for gas producers. ADAMS, N. A., and GAS PRODUCERS (BELLAY), Ltd. Feb. 19, 1941, No. 2296. [Class 51 (i)] In a water jacketted tuyere for gas producers of the kind having a discharge opening of which the width is large compared with its depth, and its inlet end of such a shape that its height does not differ materially from its width, baffle plates are inserted in the water space at the sides of the tuyere with their inner ends spaced from the inner end of the tuyere. As shown in Figs. 1 and 3, the tuyere has walls 16 of which the side walls diverge from the inlet 18 to the outlet 20 while the upper and lower walls converge. The tuyere is enclosed by a water jacket having parallel side walls 28 and converging upper and lower walls 24. Baffles 30 with their corners cut away at 32 to avoid air locks are provided in the water jacket. The tuyere is bolted to the producer wall at an inclination of 30 degrees to the horizontal.
