546,728. Indicating or recording instruments. WOOLNOUGH, G. L., WILCOX, K., and METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. April 22, 1941, No. 5175. [Class 106 (iv)] [Also in Group XX] Comprises a particular construction of amplifying movement of the kind employing differential rollers around which are wrapped flexible bands. The invention is described as applied to a temperature recorder. Two bimetallic strips 1, 2 are secured at one end in spaced relationship to opposite faces of a spacing block 3 by screw clamps so as to be square to the block. The strips are arranged to deform in opposite directions with change of temperature. A roller 10 is provided at the ends with rollers 11, 12 of somewhat greater diameter secured to the roller 10. To these are secured flexible phosphor bronze tape strips or ligaments 13, 14 which after being partially wrapped around the rollers have their free ends clamped between a cross strip 17 welded to the upper end of strips 1 and a clamping strip 18. Two similar strips 23, 24 after wrapping around roller 10 in the opposite direction to strips 13, 14 are secured by cross pieces to the bimetallic strip 2. An additional strip 33 secured to the roller 10 after being partially wrapped around the roller oppositely to strips 23, 24 is secured to an adjustable spring 36. The end of roller 10 carries a recording arm 39.
