Linear - dimension gauges. - In micrometer gauges of the kind provided with a sliding rod adapted to engage the object being measured, and to actuate the indicating - mechanism by means of rack-work, the indications of length are carried upon rotatable disks or dials. In the arrangement shown in Figs. 2 and 5, the object, which is inserted between the fixed jaws 4 of V-shape, engages the spring-controlled rod 2 which actuates the numeral drums 10, 14 by means of the gearing shown. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 6, the sliding rod forms the movable measuring-head 2 of a calliper gauge of ordinary form; the numeral-drums 10, 14 are provided as before.
