Abstract
181,163. Rogers, T. W., (Krupp Akt.-Ges., F.). March 30, 1921. Linear-dimension gauges. Relates to gauges specially adapted for measuring gear-wheel teeth,. and arranged to be set to a, specified form and to show any departure from that form, and consists in a method of indicating the amount of the departure by means of a pointer moving over a dial. Upon a round bar A slide a calliper arm B, movable over a scale a<1> by means of a micrometer screw C, and an adjustable projecting bolt J moved perpendicularly to the bar by means of a micrometer screw H. The other end the barcarries in a casing A<2> a feeling-lever connected at one end to a pointer D and at the other end to a contact bolt E bearing, under the action of a. spring, on a two-armed lever F, F<1> pivoted to the round bar A at a<3>. The arm F' of the lever F, F<1>. has a plane surface f<2> which is parallel to the corresponding surface b<5> on the arm B when the pointer D is at zero.. The faces f<2>, b<5> are provided with cylindrical slots f<4>, b<6> for the reception of the bolt J when the measuring-arms are brought close together. In use, the gauge is set to the calculated dimensions of the tooth, and when applied in the manner shown the pointer indicates the amount of departure.
