Surface and outline gauges.-A device for measuring rail wear comprises a saddle A carrying a slider B on which is mounted a dial gauge D or means for marking a record chart. The saddle is secured to the rail by screws C which engage holes formed on making a previous measurement. The saddle has longitudinal graduations. A jig for punching the holes is described.
