Abstract

546,187. Hydraulic power systems. VICKERS, Inc. Feb. 13, 1941, No. 1956. Convention date, Feb. 23, 1940. [Class 69 (ii)] [Also in Group XXVI] In a hydraulic power system in which a work circuit 34 is supplied by a variable discharge pump 12 having a swinging yoke 14 which controls the displacement under control of a spring loaded piston 24 in a cylinder connected to the pump outlet 18, the inlet 16 of the pump is supplied with oil which passes through a cooling or filtering device 40, and a booster pump 42 is arranged to force the oil through the device 40. The pump 42 is arranged to supply oil to the pump at a rate dependent upon the pressure of the discharge of the pump by being driven by a fixed displacement motor 48 supplied with oil from the pressure line 32 leading to the circuit 34, and being connected to the inlet of the device 40. The booster pump 42 is also of the fixed displacement type, e.g. a gear pump, and the motor 48 and pump 42 are mounted side-by-side in a unitary housing.
