528,950. Hydraulic transmission of power fluid-pressure servomotors. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG-NURNBERG AKT.- GES. May 17, 1939, No. 14792. Convention date, May 17, 1938. [Classes 69 (ii) and 135] A hydraulic coupling in which the gear automatically adjusts itself to variations in load is constructed with a pump which delivers fluid at a uniform rate and a hydraulic motor provided with means to adjust the working space of the motor against the action of a constant force and which is acted upon by pressure of the fluid delivered by the pump. Fluid from the pump passes from a pipe 1 to the hydraulic motor which comprises a rotor 4 with sliding vanes 5 mounted on a fixed axis and an eccentric casing 3 capable of sliding in a fixed casing 2 to vary the output of the motor. The position of the casing 3 is controlled by the action of a spring 6, which is adjustable by a screw 11 and counteracts the pressure on the casing 3 of a rod carried by a piston 7 which is in a cylinder connected to the inlet pipe 1 and outlet pipe 10 of the motor. The motor's speed is inversely proportional to the load. In a modification the position of the casing 3 is controlled by a servomotor system which acts as an automatic control permitting either pipe 1 or 10 to act as inlet or pressure pipe. As shown the pipe 1 acts as inlet pipe and on increase of pressure in pipe 1 a piston valve 33 permits the fluid to pass so that it can act on a piston 20 fixed to a rod 22 on which are other pistons 18, 19, the piston 18 being fitted with a spring 21 which normally maintains the rod 27 in the position shown. On the motion of the rod 27 to the left the fluid passes via passages 23, 28 and acts on the left side of the piston 31 and moves the casing 3 to the right. The piston 19 also uncovers an outlet port 25 of a pipe 26 leading back to the oil container of the pump. When the pipe 10 acts as the pressure side of the motor the piston 35 moves to the right under the action of the fluid pressure and the fluid can enter via passage 36 and the control of the motor is effected in the same way as when the pipe 1 is the pressure pipe.
