Abstract

545,732. Photographic colour developers. KODAK. Ltd. Dec. 9. 1940, No. 17444. Convention date. Dec. 9, 1939. Addition to 500,613. [Class 98 (ii)] A colour developer containing a primary aromatic amino developing agent, such as pphenylenediamine, and a colour coupler is rendered less liable to aerial oxidization by the addition thereto of hydroquinone or a derivative thereof, such as hydroquinone monosulphonate or toluhydroquinone. About 0.1 to 1.0 grams of hydroquinone per litre of developing solution may be added. Four formulae for colour developers are given, the colour couplers employed being α-naphthol, 2:3:4-trichlor-α-naphthol, and 4-chlor-o-phenylphenol.
