Abstract

545,568. Turning. SAUNDERS, A. Oct. 20, 1941, No. 2466/42. [Class 83 (iii)] Swivel tool posts have separate screws for clamping the tool in the post and for clamping the post to its support. The tool post T is adjustably mounted to swivel on its support U and is clamped after adjustment at V. The tool W of non-circular cross-section is clamped in a correspondingly shaped hole in the post by a screw Z. Fine adjustment of the position of the cutting edge is obtained by a backing up screw Y in a cup X screwed at 15 to the post. By removing the cup X and slackening the screw Z the tool may be removed for grinding and replaced without disturbing the angle at which the swivel is set. Specification 545,143 is referred to.
