Abstract
862,508. Lathe details. JEANNERET, J. L. Nov. 7, 1957 [Nov. 23, 1956], No. 34730/57. Class 83 (3). A tool-holding arrangement for a lathe or like machine tool comprises a block adapted to be attached to a lathe and provided with dovetailed guides on one or more of its side faces, against which a tool-holder with corresponding guides is adapted to be clamped by wedge means. The tool block 1, Fig. 2, is provided with a dovetailed slideway 7 on one or adjacent side faces, to carry a vertically adjustable tool holder 3. A clamping wedge 5 slidable in the block has a shaped end 5<SP>1</SP> which breaks into and forms part of one of the slideways. This member may be drawn to the right by turning a handle 9 which has a screw-threaded connection with the clamping wedge and a collar 10 anchoring it to the block. A spring between the clamping member and the collar 10 serves to release the wedge. The tool holder may be vertically adjusted by a screw 17, Fig. 7, in an extension of the holder, bearing against a stud 18 located in a stepped part of the block 1. The tool 15 Fig. 9, is held in its position of preliminary adjustment by a pad 13 and an adjusting screw 14.
