Abstract
543,920. Heating cathodes by electric resistances. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., and RUSHFORTH, L. Nov. 29, 1940, No. 17034. [Class 39 (iii)] [Also in Group XL] Indirectly heated cathodes for cathode-ray tubes &c. comprise two flat spirals 1, 2, oppositely wound and connected in parallel to a source of heating current, for the purpose of avoiding magnetic field effects. The spirals are located, in a mass 5 of refractory insulating material in a box 4, one side 6 of which is dished and coated with electron emissive material. The other side is closed by a disc 7 provided with a hole through which the inner ends of the spirals pass to a terminal support 11. The outer ends of the spirals are connected together through the box and to a terminal support 10.
