543,551. Knitting - machines. MELLOR, BROMLEY & CO., Ltd., BROMLEY, T. C., and SHORTLAND, A. Oct. 5, 1940, No. 14900. [Class 74 (ii)] To ensure separation of the sliders from the double-ended needles of a two - cylinder machine one or more rigid elements are inserted into each cylinder for applying a force to the backs of the sliders so that during the transfer operation the sliders are deflected outwardly. The elements may be in the form of rings 20 common to all of the tricks in a cylinder, or alternatively pins, pegs or cams may be inserted in the individual tricks. The elements engage cam forma- 'tions 18 on the backs of the sliders. The leading ends 42 of the sliders may be pointed or wedge-shaped to open the needle latches. Specifications 15008/00, [Class 74], and 24290/12, [Class 74 (ii)] are referred to.
