Abstract
520,417. Knitting-machines. HOLMES, H. H., and WILDT & CO., Ltd. Oct. 22, 1938, No. 30597. [Class 74 (ii)] For transferring loops from one set of needles to the other set of a cylinder - and - dial machine, means are provided for deflecting the needles of the first set seriatim or collectively to positions in which the needles of the second set can be projected through the loops held by the first set. In one form, Fig. 1, a cam 17 is arranged opposite the transfer cam 16 for the dial needles 14 in such way that the dial needles are deflected as they are projected by the cam 16. In a second form, Fig. 6, a dial needle 14 is provided with an undulation 23, and a jack 24 is mounted in the needle trick beside the needle and is projected by a cam 26 so that as the needle is moved to transfer position by the cam 16, the jack 24 engages the undulation 23 and deflects the needle. In a third form, Fig. 8, the dial needles are deflected by a wheel 27 driven by gearing 28, 30 and a wheel 32 engaging the cylinder needles.
