Abstract

542,679. Ventilators. GREENWOOD'S & AIRVAC VENTILATING CO., Ltd., HUGHES, B. D., and FORD, E. L. Aug. 29, 1940, Nos. 13617 and 16204. [Class 137] In a ventilator having horizontally disposed louvres placed at an angle to the vertical, certain edges or parts of the louvres or of the walls of the case containing them are adapted to interengage with corresponding parts to form a ventilator of larger size which is thus built up from units. The unit may be formed with a single set of louvres 1, but, if a blackout ventilator is desired, two or more units may be placed face to face, and, as shown in Fig. 5, with the upper and lower edges having lips 2. The units may be positioned side by side or superposed, the upper and lower louvre units d, e having extensions 6, 7, Fig. 9, which fit between the side plates as in Fig. 11. The sides of the units may be formed to interengage when the units are bolted together. In Fig. 18, the louvres 12 are held in slotted side plates, and supported by a central spragged support 21, the shallow U-shaped side plates 13 fitting into a shallow U-shaped frame 18 having top and bottom plates 17, 20 outwardly directed V-shaped projections 22 on one plate interengage with similar depressions on an adjacent plate when the parts are assembled.
