Abstract
541,059. Differential pressure gauges. ELECTROFLO METERS CO., Ltd., and BRIDGES, J. P. July 12, 1940, No. 11620. [Class 106 (ii)] In a differential flow meter of the type employing a mercury U- tube, a tapered valve 4 is provided above the mercury in the high pressure limb 1 of the U-tube and is adapted to be closed when excess flow through the meter occurs, closure being obtained by compression of a pliable material 8, such as rubber, arranged on the valve or on the valve seat. The valve is connected preferably by a ball and socket joint to the stem 6 of a float 5. A stop 9 limits upward movement of the valve, above which is a filter 10.
