Abstract
522,816. Pressure gauges. ALEXANDER, W. Dec. 17, 1938, No. 36818. [Class 106 (ii)] Relates to manometers of the type having three substantially coplanar legs 1, 2, 2 the middle one 1 being an indicating leg, all three legs being in liquid communication at a level 4, 4 below minimum-indication and the two non-indicating legs being in gaseous communication at 6 above the liquid in these legs, and consists in providing such device with a control valve 11 or 14 whereby it may be connected with a tank or used to indicate displacement of floating bodies. An overflow or filling opening is closed by a plug 7, and a drain opening by a plug 5. The valve 11 allows the non-indicating legs to be placed in communication with an external source 12 or 13 of fluid pressure, or for shutting off such pressures. A valve 14 may allow two pressures at 15 or 16 to be applied to the indicating tube or cut off therefrom. Various forms of control valve are described some of which allow communication. of spaces above the liquid in the indicating and non-indicating tubes to permit adjustment of zero.
